Alaska is a vast place for anglers to explore. Knowing when to go, what to use, and how to catch a specific species of fish are all important factors. Where to go however is the first step and can be the key to a successful outing. There are a few river systems in Alaska you can literally catch all five species of salmon in one single day. However, limiting yourself to only one specific location in Alaska for fishing is like limiting yourself to only a single flavor of Ice Cream to eat. We have a goal every year which enables us to fish several locations, catch lots of salmon, and never get bored with a single flavor. Our version of the "Alaskan Salmon Grand Slam" can only be completed by catching all five species of Pacific Salmon, in five different bodies of water, with five different lures, all in one summer. Having this challenge every year has allowed us to fish several different locations and learn new skills by using different techniques and methods for fishing. Traveling the road system in Alaska every year trying to complete the "Grand Slam" has enabled us to find many perfect locations and allowed us to achieve our goals every year. Sharing our experience and knowledge about some of the places we have fished can be found listed below. This is not an inclusive list provided on our website of every location we have explored, it is simply a condensed list of our favorite recommended areas we have had personal experiences fishing.
